First off, I want to re-cap on last week. Mr. Melton successfully completed his CDL tests! Also, both the Intermediate and Symphonic Bands participated in Music Performance Assessment last week. The Intermediate Band walked away Thursday with overall Superior and the Symphonic Band earned overall Excellent ratings. I am very proud of both groups for their mature sound, hard work and excellent musicianship. Both groups earned a Superior in sight-reading, which is an achievement in itself! Thank you students for being so well behaved at the mall representing Ranburne and the band. I also want to thank all the chaperones and Mr. and Ms. Champion for their help both days. I am constantly reminded that I've walked into a fantastic group of people and students who love their band and always want to get better.
Tomorrow is our monthly band booster meeting. Please come and show your support. We will be discussing next year plans and other important items. The meeting will begin promptly at 5:30PM.
Auxiliary tryouts are fast approaching. Information packets are in the office for anyone interested in participating. Please remember auxiliary is for 8th-12th grade. If you know a student who is interested, please send them my way and hopefully I can answer any questions.
Keep in mind Leadership and Drum Major tryouts are coming up soon. Drum Major tryouts will NOT be on April 29th, but will be rescheduled for a more appropriate date. This will be announced VERY soon.
Also, dates for the spring concert and the band banquet will be announced soon as well so everyone can mark their calendars!
Hope everyone stayed safe today during the awful weather. Bundle up tomorrow as it seems winter cannot make its mind up if it wants to leave!
Sincerely,
Mr. Melton
