We need payments for anyone going paid in full for Sept ($150) Oct ($125) Nov ($125) for each person going. We will make deposit next week to get our tickets and we need a accurate count. If there is past due fees and you made trip deposit it will applied to band fees. ALL BAND FEES HAS TO BE PAID IN FULL.
All-State
This Saturday is All-State at Albertville High School. Times have been given to the students today if they were present today. Students who do not show up and cancel will be expected to pay the band $15. Please understand this is because the band pays the fees for these and we simply cannot waste money. This is the email sent from ABA about All-State! PLEASE READ!
Below is instructions for students participating in All-State:
Student Instructions:
● Students should be familiar with the audition requirements. Each student auditioning for All-State
should conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
● Audition times will be emailed to each band director by Monday, January 6.
● Registration procedures are as follows:
● Registration is in the AHS Coliseum from 8:00am and 10:00am. All students must register by
10:00am and remain on campus.
o Go to the registration desk (Coliseum) to sign in. Students will receive audition cards and a 4-
digit student ID number on a label that must be worn on the student’s shirt throughout the
audition process.
o All MS AND HS students (with the exception of percussion) will need to show their exercise
book at the registration table. No copies from this book will be allowed in the auditions.
o BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR AUDITION CARDS!!!! Do not fold or write on the card. Any damage
to the card may prohibit the scanner from reading it properly or reading it at all.
● Warm-up: a warm-up room (cafeteria) will be provided. Do not play in the hallways at any time.
● Audition:
o Arrive at your audition room before your scheduled audition time. Upon arrival, a runner will
escort you into the audition room. Realize that you may be ushered directly into the audition
room or you may have to wait a few minutes but the audition times should run close to the
published schedule. (TIMES MAY VARY drastically if multiple students that have registered do
not attend the auditions. For this reason, students DO NOT need to leave campus once they
have registered. If you have a late audition time and there are many no shows in your room,
you will need to play earlier than your scheduled time to keep things moving.)
o The runner will match the number on the name tag with the number on your audition card.
o SCALE/SIGHTREADING ROOM (NON-PERCUSSION): DO NOT SPEAK WHILE YOU ARE IN THE
AUDITION ROOMS. All communication will be between the runner and student.
▪ No music or scale sheets are allowed in the scale room. You may leave any items with
the student runner in the hall.
▪ The student will begin playing the scales when they receive a signal from the runner.
▪ Students should perform scales according to the following written order: C, F, Bb, Eb,
Ab, Db, Gb, B, E, A, D, G. A scale order sheet will be provided on the stand in the
audition room.
▪ MS students will be informed by their judge of their start time with the scales. MS
students will have 4 minutes to complete their scales. The judge will inform the student
when the time is up.
▪ Students that do not pass the required number of scales will be notified by a judge that
their audition is over and the student will not progress to the second room. High school
students must pass 7 pairs of major scales and their associated arpeggios. Middle
school students must pass 5 pairs of major scales and their associated arpeggios.
▪ If the student passes the scale requirement, they will then sight read in the same room.
