BGood morning,
Some of the band boosters and I met yesterday and discussed some important things in regards to the trip refunds, the fall marching band season, and if you have outstanding fees.
Trip Refunds
Ms. Kimatha is in the final steps and will be reaching out to you next week in regards to the process and what you will need to do. Thank you everyone for being so patient during the process.
Marching Band for Fall 2020
First off, a quick reminder: auxiliary and leadership positions will be announced May 18th, 2020. Now, there are a lot of unknowns in regards to the fall and we wanted to make sure you knew we had been planning scenarios... which, off course, everything can change on a dime, which makes this whole situation difficult to plan for.
For the fall, all students who plan on marching MUST fill out the form for interest so we can have a better idea on who to plan for (these are on the previous blog post). We are making some adjustments this year to ensure we can make the year as fun as possible, while helping everyone out during these times. We are planning on reducing the band fee for this year only.
Mandatory Meeting, Once We Know More
We are planning on a mandatory meeting that is divided into two groups (by last name). The timing of this meeting is not set, because everything is up in the air. We are waiting on the approval to do so by the state education dept. At this meeting, we will be explaining the year ahead, what we plan to do, and how we plan to do it.
Band Fee?
We are splitting the band fee of $200 into payments of $50. This is across the board (auxiliary, band, etc). There is no sibling discount this year and all fees must be paid up until this point. We are doing this in stages for a reason, as we do not know details of the season yet. At the meeting, we will take the first $50, which goes towards their shirt and a sweatshirt. Every two weeks after, we collect $50. The 2nd payment is for instructors, and the 3rd and 4th are for transportation to games. Please know that since we are operating this season this way, any student who doesn't pay on time will be sidelined.
Band Camp?
Again, we do not know exactly when the state superintendent and Mr. Young will give the green light for football and band to practice. If possible, we do want to have a band camp, but it will be slightly different. We are looking into doing a week of evening practices, instead of entire days.
What About the Show Theme?
I am currently planning the show to fit whatever time we get. I want to wait and announce when we know a time and date of when we can start.
Outstanding Fees from Fall 2021
If you still owe for last season, Ms. Kimatha will be contacting you soon to discuss options. Please note that even if you are offered a position on a line or as leadership, this does not keep us from removing you.
I hope you and your family are staying safe during these times. Hopefully soon we can all return to the football stadium and enjoy the sounds and atmosphere of these great young men and women making music for their bulldogs.
If you have questions, as always, feel free to email me.
Sincerely,
Mr. Melton
