Its the week of our first game! I got here very quickly and I know the students are ready. Please read all the info below. The band students MUST wear their band t-shirt, "JUST DANCE" and the auxiliary must wear their shirt they received (Black w/purple lettering) Friday.
Practice, Weather and Sickness
This week we plan to practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 4:30PM. Depending on what tropical storm Fred does, we may or may not have practice Tuesday. As of this moment, we DO have practice. The call will be made by 5PM on Monday. Also, if your student is sick, please make sure I am sent an email so I know why your student didn't come to practice. If they are absent during the school day, I go by the school attendance, but if they go home sick, it would help me to know so I can plan as necessary.
Band Booster Meeting
We had originally planned to have our meeting tomorrow, but we've decided to cancel it due to the information for this meeting being enough to post. So NO meeting tomorrow.
Band Fees
Please remember to pay band fees on time. These fees are how we run as an organization and make it possible for us to travel to games, clean uniforms, buy supplies and such for the students. Please make sure fees are paid ASAP. If you and your family are experiencing hard times, PLEASE communicate it to us so we can work with you. I do not want to implement the "If you haven't paid your fees, your student is sidelined", but if there is no communication, we have no other choice. Please make sure you pay fees and communicate with us.
White Plains VS Ranburne
Typically every week I post an itinerary for the game, please use this as a guide. We are also taking pre-orders for students to eat during their break at 3rd quarter. We plan doing something different with the rising COVID threat, where we bring the pre-orders up to the band section so your student doesn't have to travel through the crowd.
5:30PM - Call Time, Students must be getting ready in the band room by this time.
6:00PM - Warm Up
6:30PM - Special Event - Tribute to Mr. Tucker before Pre-game
6:45PM - National Anthem/Pre-Game
7:00PM - Kick-Off
9:30PM (Estimate) - Game Ends, Students march back to band room to put up uniforms and clean up room.
10:00PM - Dismissal
What is what:
Call Time - Students must be present at the place designated for call time to ensure there is enough time to get ready for the game. This ensures your student is ready for the game.
Pre-Game - Where the students perform the National Anthem for the crowd and the RHS fight song as the football team enters the field.
3rd Quarter Break - After their half-time performance, students are allowed to eat and drink in the band stands. They must be back, ready to play, by 3 min left in the 3rd quarter. This includes BAND AND AUXILIARY. There will be consequences if they fail to return on time.
End of the Game - Students will form a straight line behind the home stands and march back to the band room in a straight line. They will need to put up their instrument, equipment, chairs, trash and other items to make sure their band room is clean. Once this is done, the drum major will dismiss the band to go home.
Please see the handbook given at band camp if you have other questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Melton
