I wanted to give you all a quick update on some future important dates that we have coming up in the next couple of months:
MPA is coming soon! The official date and time has been given to us that both of our bands will be performing our concert. FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24TH is our scheduled performance date and it will be held at GADSDEN CITY HIGH SCHOOL in Gadsden, AL. The 7th/8th Grade Intermediate Band will perform at 9:30AM Central, followed by the 9-12th Grade Concert Band at 11:30AM Central. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Unless you ride the bus to school in the morning, we will need all students going on the trip to be at the school no later than 7AM Central. THE BUSES WILL BE LEAVING AT 7:15AM Central SHARP!! Once both bands have performed, we will be making a short drive over to the Gadsden Mall, where we will eat lunch. Students should plan ahead and bring enough money (around $15 should do) to eat at the mall food court. Our scheduled arrival time back at school will be approximately 3-3:15PM Central, so if you are a bus rider, you will need to find an alternate way to get home as the buses will have already left by that point. Please plan ahead and have a ride ready when we get back!
Section Leader/Captain Tryouts have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 12th after school. Information packets and instructions will be coming soon to any student interested in trying out for these positions. Drum Major Auditions have also been scheduled for April 14th. Any student interested in trying out needs to mark this date on their calendar! Additional information, including an information packet, will be given out soon. See Mr Smith for more details.
Also, for future reference, we have solidified the dates for our Spring Concert as well as the band banquet for this year. Our Spring Concert will be held on April 27th at 6:30PM Central. The Band Banquet will be held the following week on May 4th at 6:30PM Central. Locations for both of these events are TBA, so keep an eye out for an announcement once that is solidified.
The JSU Honor Band will be held this year on May 11-13th. I have already had a number of students sign up, so the next step in the process is for the students to start bringing in their fees for this event. The band boosters cover half of the JSU honor band fee, so the students are responsible for bringing in the other half. Each student that plans to attend must bring in their half of the fee, which will be $75. Checks can be made out to RHS Band. The deadline to bring in money will be APRIL 1ST. If you would like to be a chaperone for this event, please contact me ASAP at jaron.smith@cleburneschools.net
If there are still students interested in trying out for danceline/majorette/colorguard, those students should come by the RHS band room and see me to get a packet of information and additional instructions.
