I want to first congratulate all of the band members who came and tried out at our section leader/captain tryouts and our drum major tryouts last week. There wasn't a single student that came unprepared or that will not be heavily considered for a leadership role. We are blessed with a lot of talent! Those results will be announced at the band banquet.
Some Important upcoming dates:
TONIGHT AT 6:00PM CENTRAL in the band room: We will be having our Spring Budget Meeting. All those who were asked or were planning on attending, we hope to see you there!
THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 21ST, the RHS Jazz Band will be performing at the Cleburne County Relay for Life Rally. The performance will be held at the Heflin City Football Field, NOT the Cleburne County High School Stadium. Our group will be performing on the field at 6:45PM Central time and all students will need to arrive NO LATER than 6PM Central time at the stadium so that we can properly set up. All jazz band members will also be meeting briefly after school this Friday to have a quick dress rehearsal of all of the music we will be playing that same night. Students should plan to be picked up from school on Friday by 3:40PM Central time. The dress for the event will be semi-casual, but students need to wear RANBURNE-themed attire and NO blue jeans (black jeans are fine). If anyone has any questions, please email me at jaron.smith@cleburneschools.net
NEXT THURSDAY, APRIL 27TH, we will be having our annual Spring Concert at RHS. The concert is open to the public and will feature our 6th Grade Beginning Band, The 7th/8th Grade Intermediate Band, the RHS Jazz Band, and the 9-12th Grade Concert Band. The concert will be held in the Elementary Gym on campus and will begin at 6:30PM Central time. Students have been asked to wear nice Sunday-Dress type clothing, preferably in "Spring colors" if possible. No blue jeans/tshirts/etc. More information will be given out early next week regarding report times for students/etc.
THURSDAY, MAY 4TH, we will be having our annual band banquet for the 2016-17 school year. The event will be held at the fellowship hall of Freedom Baptist Church at 6:30PM Central. This event is open to MARCHING BAND STUDENTS ONLY (as well as Elizabeth Pollard and Anthony Char). Food will be provided, so we ask that all members that wish to attend only invite their IMMEDIATE family members so that we have enough for everyone. We will be giving out awards, announcing leadership assignments, and ANNOUNCING NEXT YEAR'S SHOW! If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me at jaron.smith@cleburneschools.net
JSU HONOR BAND will be MAY 11TH-13TH. If your student has signed up and paid to attend this event, they will need to check out the website www.jsuhonorband.com to make sure that they have everything they need to go on the trip. We will be leaving on a school bus from the school in the morning of the 11th, however each student will be responsible for their own ride back home after the concerts on Saturday the 13th. Please check the schedule on their website (listed above) so that you will be able to plan for that appropriately. The day of Thursday the 11th, each student will need to bring money for them to eat lunch AND dinner. We have been informed that dinner will not be provided, so students will need to bring enough to pay for themselves for both meals. Our school bus will be taking every student to lunch and dinner that day. Students will need to also make sure and bring pillows/bed sheets/etc. to put on their dorm room beds if they so choose. Sleeping bags will also work on top of the dorm room mattresses. If you have any questions, please email me at jaron.smith@cleburneschools.net
Thanks!
Mr Smith
