I wanted the students to know first and hear it from me before I told everyone else. To my students who were not able to come to the end of year party, I didn't want to make this announcement until I felt the time was right, but I wanted to tell you before you hear it elsewhere. I have accepted a new position as band director at Alexandria High School starting next year.
Please understand this decision was made through lots of prayer and thought and was not made hastily. I love this community and most of all your kiddos, who have felt like my own these four years. I've been blessed to see them grow up into young men and women, seeing this program grow and reach new heights. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Ranburne. I hope you will encourage your student to continue their time in the band. This band program has become to talk of the town due to your student's drive and love for what they do. It was by God's Will that I came to RHS and I feel that same Will is telling me it is time for someone else amazing to come in. I will always love you guys and remember these great memories (Like our detour down the dirt road!)
I always felt welcomed and loved here and I know you all will do the same for the next guy. Thank you to Kimatha, who has felt like a second mom to me these years. I will always remember our first day and the door not closing when it was time to leave! Thank you to the band boosters, past and present, who have always been so easy to work with and supportive. Thank you to Mr. Young and Mr. Ward for giving me the chance to come to your school and attempt to make an impact on at least one student. Thank you to the parents, who let me teach your kids and who always cheered your kiddos on at any occasion. I love you all and I wish you the very best.
Sincerely,
Mr. Melton
