I wanted to inform you all of everything that is going to be going on this coming weekend as far as the band is concerned:
First of all, we will have an away game tomorrow night vs Lanett High School. In order to give us time to get everyone ready and get the trailer loaded up to travel to the game, we are asking everyone to show up at the RHS band room at 3:30PM central time tomorrow. The DRUMLINE have been asked to be the section that brings in a case of water this week for the band, so they can bring that in tomorrow when they arrive. Make sure you have BLACK SOCKS and your GLOVES! Please do not forget about when you need to arrive. I know we do not have school tomorrow, so you will need to be aware of what time you need to leave to get here on time. After hearing multiple things about previous meetings with this school, it has become clear to me that we will need to be on our ABSOLUTE BEST BEHAVIOR. No matter what happens, no matter what anyone says to you, no matter what anyone does during our halftime performance, no matter if someone looks at you funny, DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY SORT OF INTERACTION THAT COULD GET YOU INTO TROUBLE. We will carry ourselves with pride, civility, and CLASS while we are at this event. I need you all to act like angels so that no one could even think to want to start something negative. We will be arriving back at the RHS band room fairly late tomorrow night since this game is a little farther away, so please prepare accordingly to be there to pick up your child. A couple of us have had to stay very late on a couple of occasions and wait until parents arrive.
On Saturday of this weekend, we will be travelling to our first competition of the year at Piedmont High School in Piedmont, AL. We will need to arrive at the RHS band room on Saturday at 9AM sharp in order to get everything ready to load up and leave. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET! We would be in a lot of trouble if we had even ONE person missing from the group for the competition performance. Once we arrive at the competition, we will gather our things together and proceed to the warm up location and begin warming up and tuning our instruments. Our performance is at 12:35PM Central time, so if you are a parent that would like to come to the competition and see us perform, feel free to arrive at the competition and do so. Tickets to enter the competition will be $5 and parking is $3. I am not sure about what they will say to our Band Pups, so they may need to be prepared to pay the $5 fee in order to get into the competition just in case. EVERY STUDENT will need to bring money to eat in the concession stand at the competition. Concessions will be available all day long, so you will be able to buy food for lunch and for dinner. While we are at the competition, you must stay together in GROUPS OF FOUR OR MORE. No one will be able to walk around on their own. This is for your own safety. When we perform, you will be allowed to wear band or school attire under your bibbers, you do not have to wear one of your band shirts. You MUST wear your band tshirt once we change out of our uniforms after the performance, however (Auxiliary may wear section shirts instead), so plan accordingly. Awards will be at 7:20PM central and we will leave shortly after they conclude to head home. I have faith in our group and believe that we are capable of doing well this weekend! Let's go out and do what we do best!
I still have a couple of students that owe us for band fees so BRING IN YOUR MONEY ASAP! (Regan, you owe me cup money too).
Mark your calendars as well for October 29th. We will be hosting a Halloween costume dance here at school. The K-6th grade dance will be from 4-6PM central time and the 7-12th grade dance will be from 7-10PM central time. Tickets are $5 at the door.
