We have the JSU Honor Band coming up this weekend (there are 26 of us going) and I wanted to give you all as much information as I can about it so that you will be prepared for event.
We will be leaving on Thursday morning around 9AM Central from the school. Each student will be called out of their second period class to come to the band room where they can grab their stuff and start loading the bus.
The bus will be taking us to JSU Thursday morning and when we arrive in Jacksonville, the first thing that we will be doing is eating lunch. EACH STUDENT MUST BRING MONEY TO EAT LUNCH ON THURSDAY. This meal is not provided by the honor band.
Once we have eaten lunch, we will load the bus and head to the JSU campus to register at 12PM Central. Once we have registered, we will be allowed to go and put all of our stuff into our dorm rooms. Immediately after dropping our stuff off at the dorms, auditions for chair placements will be beginning (around 1PM Central). Each student has a different audition time, which may vary depending on how fast/slow the audition rooms are moving. I will be announcing those to each student today in class.
All of our auditions for the day should be done by 5PM Central so at that time, we will be taking the bus somewhere to eat dinner. STUDENTS MUST ALSO BRING MONEY TO EAT DINNER THIS NIGHT. The honor band is not providing dinner on Thursday night.
Once we have finished dinner, we will be traveling back to JSU campus, where we will begin our first rehearsals. THE BUS WILL BE LEAVING US THERE AFTER DINNER. This means that EVERY CHILD is responsible for their OWN TRANSPORTATION back home after the honor band is completed on Saturday, May 13th. THE BUS WILL NOT BE TAKING US BACK TO RANBURNE.
For Saturday: The concerts begin at 12:30PM Central time and should end by 3PM Central. PLEASE BE READY TO TAKE YOUR CHILD HOME AT 3PM CENTRAL ON THIS DAY! If you are a parent and absolutely cannot make it to pick up your child, please let us know and I'm sure that we can find someone that will work with you. No kid wants to be the one left at the end of the honor band with no ride home!

This address will take you up Highway 21 (Pelham Rd N) directly in front of the school. Pete Mathews Coliseum is towards the BACK of campus. If you stay on Highway 21 (Pelham Rd N) once you reach JSU, you will come to a red light in an intersection where Highway 204 (Nisbet St NW) intersects Highway 21. TURN LEFT onto Highway 204 and travel about half a mile down the road until you see a large parking lot and the coliseum on your left. If this is confusing, please let me know and I will try to clarify the directions for you. Students need to bring the following for the honor band this weekend:
-Money for LUNCH AND DINNER on Thursday
-A wire music stand of some sort (IMPORTANT)
-Your instrument
-Bed Sheets for the dorm room
-Toiletries/etc to get ready with
-Your own towels/washcloths
-Comfortable clothes for Thursday and Friday
-Khaki shorts/pants for the concert on Saturday (you will wear your honor band tshirt with these for the concert)
-Percussion students will need Snare sticks, timpani sticks, and mallet sticks
